Abstract

Today, digital culture has accelerated the satisfaction of needs, generating changes in the form of consumer behavior. The Smartphone is the mobile device most used by university students. Ubiquity, ease of use and time saving are characteristics that define this device. This work aims to know the habits of university students regarding the consumption of mobile content. Therefore, an independent mixed investigation has been chosen, in order to understand the behavior of this segment in a broader and deeper way. As a starting point, a survey was conducted to determine the mobile applications downloaded and used by this audience. From these data, qualitative and quantitative methods were applied. The first method helped to have an approach to the theories of mobile content and the tastes, preferences and reasons for using these apps. The second helped identify the consumption habits of this segment. The behavior of young university students on mobile media focuses on communication, entertainment, the use of social networks, downloads of apps for study, and audio and video consumption. Tastes and preferences when choosing an app are closely related to needs. Endless opportunities are opening up for companies, since the resources that are presented on digital platforms and formats preferred by the audience will generate value for users
