Keywords:

This research aimed to explain the internationalization of SMEs in the agroindustrial sector of the Province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, within the context of Ecuador's sustainable development. Methodologically, it was framed within post-positivism, with a mixed approach, explanatory type, and a non-experimental, cross-sectional, field design with a documentary phase. The population consisted of 54 agroindustrial SMEs. It was found that sustainable development in Ecuador follows constitutional principles that encompass economic, social, and environmental objectives. Internationalization strategies are conditioned by comparative and competitive advantages, considering factors such as demand, costs, resources, and political risks. Although many companies lack a strategic or technology transfer plan, they focus their efforts on exports, price adaptation, demand analysis, and sustainability. Its contribution to sustainable development is evident in job creation, improved quality of life, investment in resources, and productivity.
