The influence of demographic variables on organizational leadership in organizations in Ecuador
Keywords:
Leadership, GenderAbstract
The style that managers in an organization adopt to exercise leadership is conditioned by multiple individual and contextual factors. Several investigations have delved into how variables associated with diversity categories such as: age, sex, educational level or company size; affect leadership styles. This research is aimed at assessing how the relationship between demographic variables and leadership styles behaves. For the development of the research, a sample of 381 managers of micro or small companies was taken, representative of various strata in terms of age, school level and gender. Two instruments proposed by Robbins (2016) were applied to the selected sample to diagnose leadership styles. With the results of the instruments, data matrices were formed that were processed with statistical graphs of descriptive statistics and non-parametric tests for comparison of means and logistic regression analysis were performed. As a general conclusion, it was possible to establish that no significant differences were found between the leadership styles based on the behavior of the demographic variables analyzed
