The quality assurance and accreditation of Instituciones de Educación Superior (IES) must respond to the demands and regulations of their environment, in this sense the existence of quality accreditation bodies establishes standards that must be fulfill by IES. This research exposes the structure of a procedure to develop a quality management system that facilitates the improvement of the standards of the Accreditation Regulation defined for Ecuador and those established by ISO 21001 (2018) for higher education institutions specifically under the conditions demanded from the Higher Technological Institutes. The proposed procedure consists of five phases and 12 steps, and the respective quality control indicators of the system. The application of the procedure allowed the improvement of the indicators established by the accreditation system and demonstrated the need to carry out systematic applications.
