The critical reality surrounding the current world, caused by the pandemic caused by COVID-19 (coronavirus), has forced all levels of education to transfer learning environments to virtuality. This coercive need to suddenly open various pedagogical requirements that substantially influence the development of the classes and all the elements that surround the basic cell of the teaching-learning process, among the most affected elements, are educational resources. The objective of this article is to evaluate the factors that intervene in the use of the virtual library of the Pontifical Catholic University of Ecuador, Santo Domingo headquarters (PUCESD) by the School of Education Sciences. The methodological composition of the present manuscript has a mixed approach, given that a statistical analysis of the variables is carried out and it establishes theoretical guidelines, a concurrent triangulation design and is descriptive. To collect the data, the survey technique was used. The main results of the research show that 72% (36 subjects) of the respondents do not always use the virtual library due to the lack of access outside the university. Likewise, 42% (21 subjects) mention that the virtual library search tools are almost always not comfortable enough, therefore, avoid their use. In addition, 38% (19 subjects) almost always do not enter the virtual library because it is not easily accessible. Coming to the conclusion that the low percentage of students who use the virtual library is caused by the scarcity that exists regarding the knowledge of using the platform.Published
